I hit the fabric jackpot!! A few weeks ago I got the best Instagram notification ever! I won a half yard bundle of 5 different Art Gallery Fabrics. The collections were Lavish, Essentials II, Chalk and Paint, Forest Floor and Pastel Thrift. After seeing my friend Christina Lane’s (@sometimescraftr) Donut quilt she made for her sister’s wedding, I thought it would make a perfect weekend project, and I had to use new fabric! I chose mostly fabrics from Lavish by Katarina Roccella and Essentials II by Pat Bravo.
I really love the soft feminine sweetness of this quilt, which is typically not my style but lately I feel myself migrating from a more modern, improvisational quilter to a more traditional, vintage, heirloom style.
As far as the quilting, my favorite part! I used the Modern Flowers design by Natalia Majors for the borders! The rest I did all free motion and ruler work. As much as I love the perfection of my Statler along with the challenge of choosing and setting up the designs. I truly love to do hand guided work. My hope is that more of my business develops into custom hand guided quilting.
